Yeah, that processor is really impressive. I'm hoping the system will last a long time (with some possible upgrades along the way) like my old one did. I sit roughly 2.5-3ft from the monitors, so they are pretty close to my field of view, haha. If I did it again, I'd consider getting two of Dell's renowned 24" monitors, possibly using one of them in portrait mode.

Looks like your system should continue to work with you for quite a while. The only two intensive things I do are photo processing and app development (though generating an .apk for Android isn't that much load on the system). Handling photos is definitely nice on the new system!

I hadn't heard of Mint. I'll have to take a look, thanks!

I just found your blog. Really nice system man. You chose wisely by going with the i7. I bet it just zips through anything you throw at it! I would be so spoiled with dual 23s. How far away do you sit from those monitors? End to end, it's almost out of your field of vision I would think!

I'm still very happy with the Q6600 system I built 2 years ago. The only upgrade I would do to it at this point is get a better video card. But the one that is in there is adequate for my needs.

I've been tinkering with Linux Mint. It's a variant of Ubuntu. You should check it out!
